TRIO FIBONACCI

The Trio Fibonacci was formed in 1998 and plays music for piano trio of all eras, being particularly recognised for its brilliant performances of contemporary repertoire. The group takes its name from the celebrated thirteenth century mathematician whose theories and discoveries so much influenced artistic creation over the centuries. Trio Fibonacci has won an international reputation for its interpretations of works by composers such as Pascal Dusapin, Jonathan Harvey, Salvatore Sciarrino, Bernd Alois Zimmermann, Charles Ives and Mauricio Kagel.

Their concert tours have led them to the Ars Musica, Aldeburgh, Ultraschall, Winnipeg and Strasbourg festivals, to Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Canada, China, Japan, to Berlin, Stockholm and New York. Trio Fibonacci has performed for television in Canada, China and Brazil, and their concerts are regularly broadcast on Canadian radio networks.

Recently the trio has performed at the Ars Musica Festival in Brussels where they gave the world première of Trauben by Enno Poppe, at the Transit Festival in Belgium where they premiered Silver Silence by Nicolaus Huber,  and at the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival where they gave the première of Possession du condamné by Michael Finnissy.  Continuing their commitment to the next generation of musicians and composers the Trio Fibonacci has given workshops and masterclasses at the Royal Academy of Music in London, at Oxford University, at National Conservatories in China, at the Hanns Eisler Academy in Berlin, and at universities in Japan, Brazil, Canada and Sweden.

The critics have applauded Trio Fibonacci’s CD’s, which were recorded with NMC in London, Cyprès in Belgium, Rio-Arte in Brazil, and with Atma and CBC Records in Canada.
Copies of Trio Fibonacci discs can be bought over the internet via the CD's page of this site.  At the end of February 2008, the Trio Fibonacci participated in the International Chamber Music Days at the Academy of Music Hanns Eisler in Berlin, where it had coachings with legendary professors Michael Vogler and Eberhard Felz.
The group is currently preparing to record a new CD with Centrediscs (Canada) which is due to be released in 2008.

The Trio Fibonacci was the ensemble-in-residence at the Chapelle Historique du Bon-Pasteur in Montreal between 2004 and 2007. This coming season the trio will be presenting its own concert series at the Tanna Schulich Hall in Montreal.
